Matthew McConaughey got his start working in television commercials and was cast in his first minor role in the movie Dazed and Confused. After playing some additional small parts in Angels in the Outfield and Boys on the Side, McConaughey's big break
came in the film A Time to Kill (Sandra Bullock), based on the John Grisham novel. Matthew McConaughey's rugged good looks made him many fans, and he was cast in many more big budget movies including Contact (Jodie Foster), Amistad, The Newton Boys, and U-571. Later, McConaughey began being cast often in romantic comedie movies, including The Wedding Planner (Jennifer Lopez) and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (Kate Hudson).
Matthew grew up in Texas where is father ran a gas station and his mother was a teacher. More McConaghey movies include Steven Soderbergh's comedy Magic Mike, Bernie with Jack Black, and The Ghosts of Girlfriends Past with Jennifer Garner.
