Will Ferrell was born on July 16, 1967 in Irvine, CA. Will Ferrell was raised by his father, Lee, a keyboardist and touring musician with the Righteous Brothers, and his mother, Kay, a teacher. Will Ferrell enjoyed a very normal childhood where he was a kicker on his school football team and Will Ferrell maintains he was not the class clown. After Will Ferrell graduated from University High School in Irvine, Will Ferrell was accepted to the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Will Ferrell studied for his bachelor's in journalism with the idea of being a sportscaster. But Will Ferrell soon began to realize he really liked making people laugh. While Will Ferrell was interning at a local news show, Will Ferrell why he really wanted to be on-camera and promptly quit the station to take acting lessons. Will Ferrel began to perform at open mic comedy showcases and study comedy at the Groundlings theater. Will Ferrell's first big break was being cast on Saturday Night Live and many of his early movies were spin offs of the show's sketches: A Night at the Roxbury (Chris Kattan), Superstar (Molly Shannon) and The Ladies Man (Tim Meadows). After the relative lackluster results of these movies, Will Ferrell went on to achieve box office success with Elf (James Caan), Talladega Nights (John C. Reilly), and Blades of Glory (Jon Heder). Will Ferrell had a very normal family upbringing in Irvine California and now raises three sons with his companion since 1996,Viveca Paulin.
