Humphrey Bogart is one of Hollywood's greatest actors and perhaps represents Hollywood's golden age better than any other actor. Bogart had a string of hugely successful films and classic roles in the 40's. Humphrey started it off with the Maltese Falcon directed by John Huston where he made famous the role of detective Sam Spade. Then, just a year later, Bogart played the lead in Michael Curtiz' Casablanca with Ingrid Bergman, one of the most famous films in the history of Hollywood. Humphrey Bogart is also famous for his on and off screen romance with Lauren Bacall. Other famous Humphrey Bogart movies include The Caine Mutiny, Key Largo, and The Treasure of Sierra Madre.

Bogart was born in New York City. His father was a doctor. He joined the Navy for a while and the returned home. That's when he started acting making his first mark on stage at Broadway. One of his first movies was Up the River with famed director John Ford and legendary actor Spencer Tracy.
